What it involves

Fishing the Paraná, the Traditional Way

Bait casting is deeply rooted in the fishing tradition of the Paraná. From the boat, your guide reads the river, its currents and structure, positioning you in the most productive water. Then it’s all about the strike — sudden, powerful and explosive. When a dorado takes the bait, the river comes alive with hard runs, violent head shakes and spectacular jumps. It’s an exciting, authentic way to experience one of South America’s great gamefish in its natural waters.

An authentic Paraná experience, built around action.

OR WHY NOT FLY FISH?

You do not have to choose in advance

Río Bravo runs both, with the same guides and the same four full days, so you can switch during the week. Plenty of guests bait fish in the morning and pick up a fly rod after lunch.

Fishing permits are included. Tackle rental starts fromUSD 35 a day if you would rather not travel with rods.

What people ask about bait fishing

What does bait fishing involve at Río Bravo?

Rooted in the traditions of the Paraná, we use locally sourced natural bait.
From the boat, your guide reads the currents, structure and subtle changes in the water to put you in the heart of the action. The strike can come without warning — powerful and explosive — followed by hard runs, spectacular jumps and the raw energy that makes the Paraná unforgettable.

Is bait fishing easier than fly for Golden Dorado?

It asks less of your casting than fly does, which makes it the better start if you have never met this fish.

Do you have to choose bait or fly before you arrive?

No. Río Bravo runs both, with the same guides and the same four full days, so you can switch during the week. Plenty of guests fish bait in the morning and pick up a fly rod after lunch.
