At Río Bravo, dorado can be pursued in different ways, but fly fishing brings a rhythm of its own. It is a deliberate and immersive approach — big flies, wire, precise casts, and a fish that responds with its whole body. The take often happens right in front of you, followed by an explosion of power and acrobatics. It is that visual connection, from cast to strike, that keeps anglers coming back for more.

Can you fly fish for golden dorado?
At Río Bravo, fly fishing for dorado is all about the interaction between angler, river, and fish. You work the water with big flies and purposeful casts, watching the moment unfold in front of you. Then comes the take — sudden and explosive — as the dorado shows its full power from the very first strike.
Is Bravo Sur fly only?
Yes. Nymphs and streamers early in the season, dry fly from the turn of the year, wading and from the boat across six rivers and three lakes at the foot of the Andes. Six full days on the water.
Which fish when? Do the two seasons overlap?
Golden dorado on the Paraná runs from August to April. Trout in Northern Patagonia runs from December to April. The two overlap between December and April, so why not fish both!
Are permits and tackle included?
It depends on the lodge. At Río Bravo the fishing permits are included and tackle can be rented from USD 35 a day. At Bravo Sur neither the permit nor the tackle is included — We recommend bringing your personal equipment!
Do you have to be an experienced fly caster?
Bravo Sur is fly only and our guides are ready to give you all the tips you need.
At Río Bravo you can start on bait, which asks less of your casting, and pick up a fly rod later — plenty of guests fish bait in the morning and fly after lunch.
